About Kimono

”Wearing Kimono” is one of my hobbies. I’ve been learning Kimono for 2 years, and I often visit Gofukuya (specific stores where sell Kimonos and fabrics) and recycled Kimono shop.

Kimono culture has many traditional rules. Obeying those rules or not are very controversial in Japan, that there is a word “Kimono police”, which stands for people complaining about others’ way of wearing Kimono.

In my opinion, I think how people wear Kimono can be free and creative with the times.
One of the biggest reason why Kimono are not worn in daily life, is that it takes a lot of time and effort to wear it compared with usual clothes. Even though it is difficult to wear them in daily lives, Kimono culture may become obsolete if many hurdles and rules are set when wearing them.

In my case, I sometimes wear Kimono with belt, skirt, and frilled arm covers, which is Japanese and Western eclectic style.

I hope every Kimono fans enjoy their original Kimono styles without worrying how others think about you.🙌
